When someone close to you has been told their time is limited, or you see them becoming weaker, it can bring up worries and uncertainty. This is an introductory session for family members, friends and carers to gently begin to face the unknown. You will get suggestions for easing the situation, the opportunity to ask questions and a wellbeing session with Capacitar practices for soothing emotions.
"Three things in human life are important: the first is to be kind;
the second is to be kind; and the third is to be kind.

Looking after folk the way we used to … naturally |
We offer personal, practical and emotional support to people who are dying – along with those close to them. We can provide information, a listening ear, equipment and access to experienced holistic therapists. We can help with care, paperwork, errands, Power of Attorney and getting affairs in order. We aim to ease the stresses when someone is dying.
... Are you making the most of the loving support of your family, friends and community ?
... Would talking to someone who understands the dying process help to ease your worries and fears ?
... Could you benefit from a holistic therapy to ease stress and bring comfort ?
... Do you need to find out more about coping with illness and the dying process ?
... Might special equipment, help at home, personal care or company overnight make you more comfortable ?
If so, we may be able to help you - click here for some examples of what we do. We are always available to chat.

Let us help you weather the storm
Dying can sometimes be a rocky time, with so much to take in when time itself is short. New feelings and concerns arise which can be bewildering to cope with alone. Sometimes there is a sudden need to be practical, control the uncontrollable or an urge to push oneself - although the spirit is willing the flesh can be weak.
Deep emotions can come to the surface such as fear, anger, guilt or regret. People, perhaps for the first time, look within to explore their spiritual side, often searching for the meaning of their life or a sense of belonging.
This all affects a person who is dying and those close to them.
We believe it is helpful for people to face the storm courageously but they need not feel alone. We can discuss your hopes and fears with you and the people close to you. Let us help you weather the storm.
Who are we ?
The Journey Home is a Scottish charity established in 2017. It is based in the idyllic fishing village of Burghead in Moray, Scotland. Read more about us here
Why might it be helpful to face death openly ?
The sense of loss which inevitably accompanies death is painful so we tend to avoid thinking about death and dying unless we have to. The result is that no one knows what to say or do and people are alone with their worries and fears.
However, as with birth, death can be a significant and positive time. Death can help us get in touch with a life-affirming sense of awe and wonder about life that can literally last a lifetime.
We believe that softening the barriers and opening communication between everyone involved can ease the journey home.

We have no religious connection. Our work is based on a belief that human beings have a spiritual element in our nature which it is important to nourish, especially as we are dying. Our beliefs are not imposed on those who seek our help. We are always willing to help those with any or no religious/ spiritual belief. We are here for everyone.
